An artistic event has already been taking place in Boleslawiec for forty years which boasts the longest tradition in this country. It is the Polish pottery artists and sculptors are attracted to the town not only by the splendid material, namely the clay, but also by the warm and hospitable atmosphere, conducive to creativity and social contact. The history of these meetings began in 1963 on the initiative of group of Wroclaw ceramic sculptors, who did not choose Boleslawiec as the site of artistic confrontations by accident. The first workgroups, organized under the aegis of the Visual Artists Association in Wroclaw, initially assembled a small community of artists fascinated by the possibility to work with the stoneware and chamotte clay. Each year the event reached ever wider circles, the participants increased in number, and the workshop's importance grew accordingly.

The long and rich tradition of professional art created in Boleslawiec not only reflects the specificity of the town, but also finds many followers among the youngest generation. In the last few years, ceramics workshops for children and youth have been taking place here during the summer and winter vacations.

Again and again the art of Polish Pottery proves to have a magic about it, and both the recognized, professional artists and the young generation of the town succumb to the charm of the Boleslawiec clay.
